So in my case the order of cancers some far have come this way;

Prostate cancer, Melanoma, Prostate cancer, Prostate cancer, Colon cancer
(Sept 1, 2025 Update, fortunately for me, a colonoscopy showed the positive test was wrong).

Prostate cancer (wow, cant even remember the year).

Gleason 4+3 fully engaged margins (spread outside the prostate). 3 arm robotic surgery at Boston Medical Center.

Ill be discussing the impact of Prostate cancer on my life along the way. Prostate cancer may be the worst of the three, although EACH of them are easier if they finish the job.

I haven't dealt with the colon disaster yet... go Derm in 2 hours (8/4/25) for an issue in my arm.

Malignant Melanoma. 2012/2013. Scary stuff.

So a mole on my leg for 6-8 months, my primary dr took a look, it took 6 months for an open dermatologist on Cape Cod, I saw the dermatologist and before shaking hands she says "its a benign blah fn blah".

Instead of taking a slice of the mole on my knee to be safe, Dr Teirney  said "see you in a year".

Like 3 months later as its changing color and shape before my eyes, I called her office and, I  remember it like it was yesterday told them "this thing on my leg is getting bad, if she doesnt take it off ill take it off myself with a can opener"..

2nd appointment, she AGAIN looks and says it does not bother her. BUT THIS TIME SHE TAKES A BIOPSY.

So there I am days later, like a late Saturday afternoon, we have friends upstairs on our outside deck, me checking messages in my basement office.... and I get this:

And in a simple little phone message, Melanoma jumped into the race with Prostate cancer, to see which could screw up at man's life worse. Over the long term. AND, How much time is each offering.

I had had to almost forced this lady into taking a biopsy of that wart on my right knee.

I'll detail some some nuances of this particular doctor later on. Below that actual message she left for me. While I engaged a large Boston law firm to investigate this matter, they only care about "damages". They're not going to waste lawyer hours on someone's broken pinky, and while a Dr pointed out to me what "6-8" meant on my file, 6-8 months expected life term. And no cure for deep melanoma.

As that issue stands, it so happens that tomorrow (8/4/25) am I have rush appt for my dermatologist oncologist for bad looking new spot on my wrist area. Got in 4-5 days!

So I need to remember all the tests I have to deal with this month, and a specialists for each of the 3 cancers. And now tell them each about my new friend, colon cancer.

At some point i'm simply not going to have the change to pay for expensive medical treatment. At which point i'll just stop all 6-7 specialist I bother almost every month (good and kind people to me each of them!).

Or one of the 3 is going to mess me up so that I take care of it personally. I mean really, what else you going to do.

I have done pretty good missing organs and lymph nodes, prostate, appendix and  all.I still have the heat sweats I get from the chemo that was killing me alive, and stopped accepting it. When its 99 in Vegas its 119 in Bob.

Shit, I could have easily called it a day after the 1st prostate cancer insult. And collectively its given me reason to think an awful lot about a lot of things.

But I wanted to share a photo that shows what delaying the diagnoses of malignant melanoma looks like;  WARNING - CANCER AT WORK - NOT WICKED PRETTY!

  1. Wow,that's alot Bob. It's amazing a doctor could be so careless. Good for you to push them to do their job. Some people don't realize they have to be your own advocate in these situations. Nobody is going to know or care more than themselves .
